International School-Conference "Mathematical Spring" 2026

On holding conferences

International School-Conference "Mathematical Spring" 2026

The International School-Conference "Mathematical Spring" blossomed once again at the HSE University campus in Nizhny Novgorod from March 29 to 31, 2026.

The event was organized with the support of the International Laboratory of Dynamical Systems and Applications as part of the "Qualitative Theory of Systems of Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations" international academic cooperation project.

The heart of this conference has always been a genuine passion for sharing knowledge. For years, "Mathematical Spring" has been a meeting point for people from across the globe. Our guest lecturers once again nailed the challenge: presenting complex scientific ideas so clearly that even first-year students can get it!

This year’s stellar lineup of guest speakers included:

  • E. A. Fominykh (SPbU), who introduced the audience to the complexity theory of 3D manifolds;
  • D. V. Talalaev (Lomonosov Moscow State University), who opened up the world of total positivity;
  • Yu. S. Belousov (Euler International Mathematical Institute), who shared insights into the mysterious meanders;
  • S. E. Pustovoitov (Lomonosov Moscow State University), with a fascinating breakdown of the Banach-Tarski paradox;
  • O. A. Sultanov (Ufa Federal Research Center, RAS), who captivated the audience with the asymptotics of integrals with parameters;
  • V. E. Bobkov (Ufa Federal Research Center, RAS), who gave a series of insightful lectures on linear and nonlinear operator theory;
  • I. D. Remizov (HSE Nizhny Novgorod / IITP RAS), who demonstrated approximate solutions for differential equations using Chernoff approximations of semigroups.

Researchers from China also joined the conference with online presentations. In addition to the talks, a vibrant poster session sparked great interest and lively discussions among the participants.

The conference has proven to be a unique platform for knowledge exchange between students and established scientists. The event brought together participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, and beyond. Most of the audience consisted of students from the "Fundamental and Applied Mathematics" program at HSE Nizhny Novgorod and members of the "International Academic Cooperation" project.

Each "Spring" at HSE is a powerful intellectual boost. It’s a chance to hear lectures from leading scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other major research centers without ever leaving our home campus. Big thanks to HSE University and the Laboratory for organizing "Mathematical Spring" at such a high level!

The conference flew by in a flash. The school's format provides a real deep dive into the scientific agenda. It was more than just studying — it was about live communication and an exchange of experience that no textbook can replace. Thank you for such an unforgettable experience!
