About the Center for Language and Brain
The Center for Language and Brain started its work at HSE Nizhny Novgorod on September 1, 2020. We work in the field of neurolinguistics, studying connections between language and brain using modern experimental methods and technologies.
- The center’s staff test speech skills in patients with speech disorders before, after, and during surgeries. In 2025, employees of the Nizhny Novgorod Center are participating with their Moscow colleagues in the joint project "The Brain foundations of Language and Speech Pathology: the transfer of basic research into clinical practice".
- Our center holds events for a wide audience. The scientific seminar of the HSE Center for Language and Brain takes place weekly on Thursdays at one of three campuses: in Moscow, St. Petersburg or Nizhny Novgorod. The staff of the Center and invited specialists talk about their research related to speech function and its brain mechanisms.
-
The Summer Neurolinguistic School is traditionally organized by the HSE Center for Language and Brain (Moscow).
The autumn neurolinguistic school has been held at the Nizhny Novgorod Center for Language and Brain since 2022. The school aims to deepen the knowledge of a wide audience in the framework of neurolinguistics. - The "Compling" Scientific Research Group is working at the Center for Language and Brain. The purpose of the study is to create a draft of automated model for determining reliable/unreliable information about a person's speech during the study of multimodal video material.
