'Globalization Will Bring Huge Opportunities for the Economy'

The fall semester has begun for this year's new cohort of the Master's programme in Global Business at HSE – Nizhny Novgorod. The Programme's partnerships with European universities and international companies allow students to gain valuable experience working on international teams. This year, the Global Business Master's Programme enrolled students from Russia, Botswana, Cameroon, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, and Zimbabwe.

'Globalization Will Bring Huge Opportunities for the Economy'

The Programme is partnered with Johannes Kepler University (Linz, Austria) and the University of Bergamo (Italy). Instruction is conducted in English. All students will complete obligatory internships in international companies.

The programme "Global Business" has undergone significant changes not only in connection with COVID-19 restrictions, but also curricular changes. The most significant change is that the curriculum now includes CAPM Exam preparation courses. Thus, graduates of the programme will not only receive additional competencies, but will also be officially recognized in the international professional community.

Ekaterina Krekhovets
Associate Professor, Department of Economic Theory and Econometrics, HSE – Nizhny Novgorod

'Despite the restrictions and the high degree of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 epidemic,' says Professor Ekaterina Krekhovets, 'the interest in the programme from both Russian and international students is steadily growing.'

Of course, one of the most important aspects of the programme is direct interaction with businesses as well as the implementation of a student project in every country where programme partners are based. Due to the pandemic, we had to quickly restructure the educational process. At first it seemed that it would be almost impossible to implement the kinds of projects our students undertake online. Thanks to the efforts of each of the three universities and partner companies, we have managed to do this. Now, even in a worst-case scenario and closed borders, students of the programme will still be able to gain valuable experience working on international teams and implement real projects.

Denis Fomenkov
Dean, Faculty of Management, HSE – Nizhny Novgorod

According to Zhanna Shabanova, a Leading Expert of the International Relations Office of HSE – Nizhny Novgorod, the number of international students in the programme is constantly growing. This year, students from Botswana, India, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Russia will study at the Nizhny Novgorod campus.

Jeripothula Vinay Kumar (India), student of the programme Global Business:

'After earning a bachelor’s degree in 2015, I worked in a charted accountancy firm and a startup in India. During that time, I realized that I need a good master’s degree to progress in my career and enhance my knowledge and skills in the field of business. I chose Russia as a suitable place to get my Master’s degree. I wanted to get internaitonal experience, the HSE programme in Global Business looked fascinating, and it is the only programme in which you can get experience working and/or studying in three countries (Russia, Austria and Italy).

'I think it is very important to have international business experience, because I feel that the concept of globalization is going to give enormous possibilities for economies in future.'

Wafi Ahmed Abdalsamad Mohamed Amin (Egypt), student of the programme Global Business:

'I chose the Global Business programme because of the unique curriculum it offers; it covers different aspects of business and financial management on a global scale. After thoroughly reviewing the curriculum, I believe it best prepares me to become a project manager. The curriculum is focused on practical application of skills and not just theory. Since I have six years of international work experience, I believe this programme will enrich and enhance my capabilities to become a successful Project Manager.'

Yulia Gritskova (Russia), student of the programme Global Business:

'This year I earned a bachelor's degree in Management at HSE – Nizhny Novgorod. Studying in the Global Business programme has been a dream of mine since I was an undergraduate student. So I did everything I could to get in. After graduation, I would like to work for an international company in innovative project management.'
