Perfoming on «Confluence». How was it?

On May 16, a cultural and educational performance took place at the NGHM as part of the Confluence project, bringing together students from different countries and cultures through music, poetry and dance.

The project is a joint initiative of the Higher School of Economics – Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum and addresses the symbolic image of Nizhny Novgorod as a city at the confluence of the Oka and Volga Rivers — a space of meeting, interaction and cultural diversity.

The program participants presented creative performances in different languages, demonstrating how national traditions can preserve their uniqueness and at the same time become part of a common cultural dialogue. The performance was opened by the song in Tatar "Tugan Yak" ("Native Land") performed by Alexandra Astashkina, Jamila Saitova, Victoria Vasilyeva and Saida Sharipova. Anna Belyavskaya read the poem "Dunneduv" ("My Land") in Evenki and Russian, and Tyosar Tina Nguvan and Tartor James Amih performed the traditional dance of the Tiv people — Swange.

A special part of the program was presented by the numbers of foreign students who use Russian as the language of creativity and personal expression. Tiotsop Kamu Olivier Mozard performed the song "Samsara", and Muhammad Faraz presented the traditional dance Attan, which is an important part of the cultural tradition of Afghanistan and Pakistan. Hossain Sayem concluded the program with a musical number that combined Russian and Bengali language traditions.

The performance became a space of lively intercultural communication, showing that respect for differences, openness to other cultures and interest in linguistic diversity help to form a genuine dialogue between people.
