About the Faculty

The Faculty of Law at HSE Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 2001. The faculty not only provides a classic legal education, but is also a leader in training specialists capable of providing effective, high quality legal support. Graduates from the faculty are equipped with modern economic knowledge and can fluently speak several foreign languages. Furthermore, professors, associate professors and researchers renowned in their respective fields regularly give lectures at the faculty.

Students are educated based on HSE’s own standards, thereby ensuring the most efficient formation of professional competencies and skills.
The faculty’s main mission is to prepare lawyers who not only understand the law, but also possess the latest economic knowledge, as law is the most important instrument in the regulation of economic relations.

Study Process

Instruction of legal disciplines is implemented in direct connection with court and legal practice. As such, during their studies, students have an opportunity to get acquainted with cases in courts of general jurisdiction, as well as arbitration courts in the Nizhniy Novgorod Region. They also have an opportunity to discuss and evaluate evidence, while business cases and mock trials help them to fully master their legal skills.

Students at HSE Nizhny Novgorod study a large variety of economic subjects: company economics, management, marketing, HR management, business valuation, economic analysis, foreign economic activities, etc.

Furthermore, being fluent foreign language is also very important for the professional activities of a lawyer in modern world. Therefore, language training allows our students to be more competitive on the current job market. Moreover, language training at the faculty is twice as intensive compared to programmes offered at other universities.

Alumni

Legal education at HSE helps graduates find employment in various professional fields. In fact, the employment of graduates is one of the faculty’s key priorities.

The faculty’s graduates usually find work in law enforcement bodies, city and region administration, chambers of commerce, currency and stock exchanges, banks, and large companies.

Student Research and Consulting Activities

Students and lecturers of the faculty actively participate in conferences, competitions, and Olympiads: they have won in most categories of the regional interuniversity student Olympiad, as well as the prestigious Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.

Information Resources

Students have access to the electronic resources of HSE and other universities’ libraries, as well as international and Russian databases. In addition, computer classes, equipped especially for students, allow them to work with online sources, as well as access an extensive reference database on the local network.
