Accommodation and Visa Support

Accommodation

We provide three possible ways of accommodation:

  • HSE Dorm (L'vovskaya str., 1v, 2 beds in a room, meals are not included, approx. 1 hour by bus to the main HSE building). The Dorm is free of charge for Summer School participants.
  • Hostel Smile (City center, Bol'shaya Pokrovskaya str., 4, 15 min walk or 10 min by tram to the main HSE building)
  • Pre-selected host family in downtown Nizhny Novgorod. The university enjoys lasting cooperation with a pool of hospitable families hosting foreign students annually and looking forward to meeting new guests. The fee includes the accommodation in a twin room (2 beds in a room), breakfast and dinner for the period of the program, starting from Sunday before it begins.  Early arrivals and late departures are possible. If you wish to arrive earlier and leave later you may book accommodation for these days additionally. Please, indicate that in questionnaire, you’ll receive after the confirmation. If you have any special dietary or any other needs, please indicate that in the questionnaire as well.

Visa Support & Visa Guidance

HSE-Nizhny Novgorod provides an official letter of invitation for visa application at Russian Consular offices abroad and registration.

Students, participating in the Summer School need a Student visa. Dates of validity of the visa will correspond with the dates mentioned on your letter of invitation issued by a Russian Federal Migration Service agency or on your official letter of invitation from our University.

HSE – Nizhny Novgorod provides an official letter of invitation for visa application at Russian Consular offices abroad. Please note, that letters of invitation for EU citizens are issued in up to 15 days (by our University) and for nationals of other countries (including USA and Canada) – in 45 days.

Please be aware, that your international passport should have at least two blank pages for visas. The passport should be valid for a minimum of six months after visa expiration date. If you do not have a blank page to which a visa can be affixed or your passport is valid for a shorter period of time than 6 months after visa expiration date, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application.

A normal application procedure takes at the Russian Consular office approximately 7 calendar days.

Please bring your passport and the migration card (you will get it upon arrival at the airport) on the first day of the Summer School at the University. We will need these in order to register you with Russian Migration Bureau.
