Applying for a Registration

Upon arrival in the Russian Federation, every foreign citizen is obliged to get registered at his/her actual place of residence.

The detachable section of the notification form (also called "registration") is a document confirming your legal presence in Russia.

 

IMPORTANT:  Getting registered is obligatory every time you enter the Russian Federation or change your actual place of residence. 

Please make sure to always have a copy of registration and migration card.

When it is necessary to make migration registration?

  • If you live in a dormitory, you must submit documents for migration registration on the next business day after your arrival.
  • if you live in a rented apartment, you must make migration registration within 7 days from the date of arrival.

How to make migration registration?

  • If you live in a dormitory, you should contact the International Office.
  • if you live in a rented apartment, you should ask your landlord to help you get registered at the local migration office of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
