During two weeks students not only were studying different aspects of the Russian economy,  but discovered some new traditions and features of other cultures. The program of summer school  covered different aspects of the monetary and fiscal system of the country, the basics of marketing, the interaction of politics, Economics and information -  areas related to the strategy of the Russian economy as well.

After classes students went to different place connected with Russian culture  such as trip to Semenov,  visit of the fair, having an excursion in city.

Participants of the summer school shared their impressions about the school and extracurricular program.

Anna Bobariko, faculty of economics

"Participation in the school gave us not only useful knowledge in the field of Economics and politics, but also a lot of positive emotions received from communicating with foreigners, discussing similarities and differences in cultures and everyday life. In General, the impressions are extremely positive, I advise everyone to take part in such events.”

Ivan Gordeev, faculty of Economics

“Recently I was lucky to become a participant of the HSE Nizhny Novgorod summer school on Russian Economics. During the education process I was able to learn more about the structure of the Russian economy, and also learned to use the main macroeconomic indicators to analyze the situation of Russia in the world community. Because the course work was conducted in English, it helped to develop vocabulary in the Economics and political science fields. Moreover, it allowed me to feel like a student of an European University, because not only Russian, but also foreign students with whom we attended classes wanted to learn the economy of Russia! During free time we were offered exciting excursions: to Sberbank, Finam, museums of Nizhny Novgorod, as well as to the matryoshka factory in Semenov. These activities helped foreigners to develop the country image better. In spite of the busy schedule, the guys wanted to walk more, communicate with each other and learn about the traditions and cultural features of different countries. Therefore, this program was not only a chance to develop a lot of useful skills, but also a great opportunity to make new friends. I am sure that the Summer Economic School in 2018 was successful!”

Esther Nieuwenhuizen, Netherlands

“This was my first experience with a summer school. The program in Nizhny Novgorod  (Russian Economics) was very interesting. Not only did we learned a lot about the features of the Russian economy, we also gained a lot of knowledge about Russian culture. I enjoyed classes so much because of the inspiring teachers, who tried to make interactive classes, so that we were challenged to think about the discussed issues. Moreover, it was interesting that both Russian and international students joined the Summer School. This gave me knowledge about different views on the discussed topics. During the weekends I had time to travel and see more from the beautiful country. I visited Moscow and Kazan which were both absolutely stunning cities. I would definitely recommend the Summer School! For me it was an amazing experience!”

The Summer Economic School was an excellent opportunity to gain cultural experience and to find new interests for the future researches. In addition, this was a great chance to change the view on the Russian economy and learn it from the other side!
