HSE Nizhny Novgorod Achievements 2015

In 2016 HSE Nizhny Novgorod will celebrate its 20th anniversary, so this is a particularly significant year for the campus. But 2015 was also full of important events, which you can read about in our  campus calendar.

In May 2015 the first graduates of the French-Russian distance learning programme with the Université de Nice Sophia-Antipolis were awarded their diplomas. Also in May,  HSE Nizhny Novgorod hosted a meeting with one of the most important figures on the Austrian literary scene of the last third of the C20th, winner of the Austrian Prize for Literature 1991, and the Franz Kafka prize 1993 — Peter Rosei.

In June, on Nizhny Novgorod city day HSE organized a festival for art lovers — the project ‘Painting Strauss’.

In July we held the Russian-Chinese Summer School on Law. The event is traditionally organised by the Faculty of Law and and the university’s Chinese partner, the South West University of Political Science and Law (Chongqing, China). On July 10, 2015, students of the master’s programme in Finance majoring in Audit and Consulting successfully defended their theses at Tuscia University in Viterbo, Italy.

In September the second international conference ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications’ took place at HSE Nizhny Novgorod. Representatives from over 25 scientific organisations, universities,  research centres both Russian and international participated in the event.

HSE — Nizhny Novgorod signed a cooperation agreement with the Hochschule Bochum — Bochum University of Applied Sciences (Germany). The agreement covers academic exchange programmes, joint work on both Master's and undergraduate-level programmes, joint summer schools, and international research.

In October at a conference at Stanford University, Leonid Bolshukhin, lecturer in HSE Nizhny Novgorod's Faculty of Humanities, presented a discovery he made in his research dating back to Boris Pasternak’s school years. It concerns a page from a classmate’s journal on which Pasternak wrote a musical phrase, along with a note and signature.

On October 23-25 HSE Nizhny Novgorod held a Workshop on Clustering and Search Techniques for Large Scale Networks.

In December a delegation from the Southwest University of Political Science and Law visited HSE Nizhny Novgorod. During the meeting the parties signed a supplementary cooperation agreement that stipulated increasing the number of language courses during summer schools, expanding the student and academic mobility programme, and organising Russian-Chinese culture days in both partner universities.
