Pre-Departure Checklist
STUDENT VISA
Citizens of Azerbaijan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Armenia, and Uzbekistan do not need a visa to enter Russia.

- After the visa invitation appears in your personal account or after you get it by email, you may apply for a student visa at a Russian consulate or visa centre in your home country (single-entry visa, 90-day duration);
- When you get your visa, don't forget to check if there are any mistakes on the visa and if all the information is correct.
PLANNING YOUR ARRIVAL
- Make sure that your arrival date doesn’t come before the start of your visa (if you need a visa to enter the Russian Federation);
- Fill out the arrival form on the website no later than 5 days before entering the Russian Federation;
- Familiarize yourself with Russia’s migration and customs rules, as well as baggage transport regulations;
- Find out how to get to your place of residence from the airport (or train station): train, metro, or taxi;
- Check the information on the page for international students.
MEDICAL INSURANCE AND CERTIFICATES
- Get a health insurance that will be valid for the entire period of your stay, or choose an insurance company in Russia where you can get a policy on arrival;
- Read about the medical examination that should be made upon your arrival;
- Get a certificate of vaccination or a copy of the certificate of preventive vaccination.
CONTACTS
- Keep the contacts of your Programme Office and programme manager, as well as the International Office;
- Keep the contacts of the Embassy/Consulate of your country in Russia.
WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU:
- Documents for admission (visit the website for international applicants of the HSE-Nizhny Novgorod to see the list of documents);
- Originals of documents required for the trip (passport, plane/train ticket);
- Original of medical certificate, HIV test, Hepatitis B,C tests (for students received a full scholarship);
- Cash to use during your first few days in Russia (US dollars, euros, or rubles).
