Global Business Students Presented Projects at Bergamo

The international modules of the master’s programme in Global Business have come to an end, and students have defended their projects, which they worked on for several months, at the University of Bergamo, Italy. Representatives of companies for whom the students prepared their projects as well as the representatives of three partner universities — Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria), the University of Bergamo (Italy)  and HSE (Russia) — all took part in the event.

One of the most interesting and challenging parts of the programme in Global Business in Italy is project development for major local and international companies who are looking for new markets, including Russia and CIS countries. This year's programme partners were: Schneider Electric (a global expert in energy management and automation with offices in more than 100 countries), Alpetrans (transport company), SIAD (supplier of industrial, specialty, food industry and medical gases).

Students who worked with Shneider Electric dealt with a large-scale task – they studied 20 countries and trends on the markets for food and non-alcoholic beverages. The students selected 6 clusters of products (pastries, drinks, etc.), and each of these clusters was analyzed for each of the targeted markets. From the results, the students made recommendations on which product is best to launch in a particular market.

Another group of students worked on a case for Alpetrans: they looked for new partners in logistics in Italy and analyzed important aspects in the planning and implementation of similar partnership programmes.

The students who worked for SIAD conducted theoretical and empirical research into the application of innovations on the B2B market. SIAD representative noted that ‘the students made a very good presentation about the company and how its activities could be improved through innovations. The presentation will be shown to the company’s top management and some innovative ideas such as job rotation might be implemented. In addition, this programme also aims to strengthen the relationships between three countries - Italy, Russia and Austria – and open new horizons for the graduates’.

The closing ceremony ended with a video about student life during this academic year, feedback and words of appreciation from students.
