Finance classes from a renowned Russian professor and expert

Professor Rogova, Head of Finance department at HSE S.Petersburg, paid GB students in Nizhny Novgorod a by-now-traditional visit as she delivered the course she teaches in the programme, ‘International Finance’.

Prof. Rogova came to Nizhny Novgorod HSE campus from Saint Petersburg HSE to teach finance a group of Global Business students. It was a crash course, covering a lot of finance topics. Students had an intensive week of only Finance classes.

A Global Business student from Italy, Filippo, shared with us his thoughts on the course:

The course encompassed a lot of material pertinent to an International Manager. We have been discussing the ways to assess a company's profitability, its growth and attractiveness from the point of view of investors and much more.

Filippo Gamba
UniBG student, 2016

The course could be perceived as a difficult one for some students, as they were not only from different countries, but also from different academic backgrounds.

Students holding their Bachelor degree in Economics/Finance did not find the course as demanding as the students from Marketing, for example. There was one student from International Relations enrolled on the programme who shares her experience:

I was not used to finance before, as it was never the main focus on my major, International Relations. There was a lot of new information for me. I won't hide that it was a challenge for me to prepare for the exam. But as they say, all is well that ends well. I passed the course, and I am very proud of my own achievements now.

The reason why students were satisfied with the course overall is that Prof. Rogova was very attentive to each student's needs during the class. If there was any misunderstanding of the material, the professor was there to help students overcome it, which they appreciated a lot. To add to this, the advanced level of Prof. Rogova's English and Finance expertise significantly mitigated of the course complexity for the students.

The Global Business group is grateful to the Professor for improving their level of knowledge in finance and hopes future generations of GB students will have the pleasure of attending Prof. Rogova's classes!
