Who is right for us?

Requirements for prospective students:

Compulsory

Bachelor's/specialist degree from a Russian or foreign academic institution confirmed by a nationally recognized document.

In accordance with the educational standards of HSE, Global Business programme requires a bachelor's or specialist degree for enrolment. No specific background in Management or Business is required, however, degrees in Management, Business, Economics or related fields will be considered as a plus along with any relevant short courses, trainings, summer/winter schools, etc.

* The majority of admitted students have an educational background in management or business. However, candidates with other backgrounds may be accepted (e.g., natural sciences, technology, humanities, etc.).

English language proficiency sufficient for engaging in dynamic professional discussions and submitting academic and business related papers.

Desirable

Work/study/project experience in international teams.

In case of a non-management (or non-business) background: short course/training/summer school/internship certificates in management or business fields. No previous work experience in the sphere of management is required but will be considered a plus.

Portfolio

Enrollment process does not consist of any exams. We accept applications on the basis of portfolio. Your portfolio should include:

Completed application form
Resume/CV

Please submit a standard CV, including, at a minimum, your educational background and achievements, work experience and language knowledge.

Letter of motivation (maximum 1 page of А4 format, in English)

This letter should describe your reasons for applying to this specific programme, in the context of your long-term career goals and previous background.

Scans of diplomas and academic transcripts

If you have not yet received your Bachelor’s diploma, please include an official copy of your most recent academic transcript.

Two letters of recommendation

Any recommender is welcome, however, we encourage you to submit one recommendation letter from an employer (or internship supervisor) and the other one from someone familiar with your academic work.

Please provide your recommenders with HSE’s letter of recommendation guidelines.

Scan of English proficiency exam results (IELTS, TOEFL, CAE, BEC Higher, etc.)

Minimum scores:

IETS: 6 overall and higher

TOEFL: 80 IBT; 500 PBT and higher

Applicants should submit test results no more than two years old.

Native speakers of English and students who have completed an entire degree exclusively in English do not need to submit proof of their English ability.

Applicants with no proof of English proficiency will be offered an interview online or on site to evaluate their English language skills.

Documents evidencing the completion of courses, workshops, trainings and other in the field of Management and/or Business.

All submitted documents should be high-quality scans, not photos.
