Company visits in GB programme: VoestAlpine
The Global Business programme not only orients its students towards mastering the theoretical background on doing international and global business but also gives opportunity to learn different international business models firsthand through visiting large international companies and networking with the top-management.
As we know every country has its own peculiarities and specific models of doing business, even the ones operating globally. To understand these features, as well as learn strategies insights that make a particular company successful in each country company visits to the so-called 'role-modeling companies' are organized for the Global Business students. A few days ago we had one of the most interesting visits, to the Austrian company "Voestalpine", which is a world leader in steel and aluminium production.
"Voestalpine" is the largest company in Austria and enjoys the "top" position in the global market, with the main production sight company's top management located in Linz. Upon learning that the company is engaged in heavy industry, the first thought was that it would be boring (especially for girls). Quite the contrary was true! We got a warm welcome from representatives of the company: one of the top managers and the head of the strategic department; an incredibly interesting tour around the production facility, as well as a delicious lunch sponsored by the company.
During this meeting we learned what makes the company successful in the business, reviewed its corporate strategy, peculiarities of doing business in the industrial sector, as well as had the opportunity to talk face to face with company representatives and the HR manager, who said that each year invite the students of our programme for interviews.
Thanks to the Global Business programme for the incredible opportunities it presents!
