Summer School - 2015 Impressions
Vladimir Rossohin, Associate professor of the Department of Financial Management of HSE-Nizhny Novgorod
"The participants of this Summer school had chance to immerse into a rich educational programme including Russian language classes, Russian history and special professional courses. In contrast to last year, this time students were free to decide which track attracts them more and could choose the most suitable one. The main goal of the summer school is to present the peculiarities of Russian economics and finance.
For some teachers the summer school became an opportunity to discuss something important not only to foreign students, but also to our local participants. For example, their own researches. A part of this data gets certainly into University lectures, but not all. That was a real chance to share the experience!"
Tatiana Suvorova, student of the faculty of Economics, HSE-Nizhny Novgorod
"The invitation to participate in an international summer school on economics was a total surprise. To be honest, I was truly worried about my language competences and I was at first wondering if I would be able to understand the lecturers and to communicate within the discussions. However, the first days at the summer school allayed all my concerns.
I should certainly admit – it was an extraordinary experience! And it is not only about the lectures and discussions – that were undoubtedly really useful for me – but also because of the possibility to interact directly with students of different cultures, to discuss tough issues and to understand a different point of view. All the participants were very nice and curious and I think we managed to find out a lot about our countries, history and psychology. I am happy that I got an opportunity to take part in this kind of event just one year before my graduation from the HSE. I recommend all the student to be active, to apply for various conferences and training scientific school. It’s something unbelievable!"
Waldemar Schewzow (student from Germany)
"There are quite a few things I found interesting about the summer school. While the first point is just a personal opinion, I must say, it was very interesting seeing how topics are approached from a different angle from what I'm used to at the university I'm going to. The second point that I found interesting, was learning about the Russian culture and seeing the differences between what's usual where I live. As a person who has been confronted with the Russian culture since childhood, a lot of differences weren't too apparent to me and only became more clear to me after they were pointed out to me. It's very useful to understand how Russians act, and why, when communicating with Russians. Especially the Intercultural Communications classes have been very interesting and useful in that sense"
