"Globalization will bring huge opportunities for the economy"

The Global Business master's programme has been began at the HSE-Nizhny Novgorod. Jointly with European universities and companies participating in the programme, students will be able to gain valuable experience working in international teams. This year, the Global Business master's programme accepted students from Russia, Botswana, Cameroon, India, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, and Zimbabwe.

The programme partners are traditionally the Johannes Kepler University (Linz, Austria) and the University of Bergamo (Italy). The programme is implemented in English. All the students will complete obligatory internships in international companies to work in the global economy.

The programme "Global Business" has undergone significant changes connected not only to the COVID-19 restrictions, but also to the reform of the curriculum. The changes in the curriculum are primarily related to the inclusion of CAPM Exam preparation courses to the educational programme. Thus, graduates of the programme will not only receive additional competencies, but will also be officially recognized in the international professional community.

Ekaterina Krekhovets
Department of Economic Theory and Econometrics (Nizhny Novgorod): Associate Professor

Ekaterina Krekhovets added that "despite the restrictions and high degree of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, the interest in the programme from both Russian and international students is steadily growing".

Of course, one of the most important characteristics of the programme is direct communication with business and also the implementation of a student project in each country where the programme is carried out. With the outbreak of the pandemic, we had to quickly restructure the educational process. At first it seemed that it would be almost impossible to implement projects to the online space in our context. Thanks to the efforts of each of the three universities and partner companies, we managed to do this. Now, even in worse-case scenario and closed borders, students of the programme will still be able to gain valuable experience working in international teams and fulfill real projects.

According to Zhanna Shabanova, a Leading Expert of the International Relations Office HSE — Nizhny Novgorod, the number of international students in the programme is constantly growing. This year, students from Botswana, India, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Russia will study at the Nizhny Novgorod campus.

Jeripothula Vinay Kumar (India) - student of the programme Global Business:

After my completion of bachelor’s degree in 2015, I worked in a charted accountancy firm and a startup in India, during the working period I realized that I need good master’s degree for growth in my career and enhance my knowledge and skills in the field of business. I chose Russia as a suitable destination to get my master’s degree in order to obtain really good international exposure, and I was fascinated by the global business program in HSE university as this is the only master’s program which gives the best international exposure of three countries (Russia, Austria and Italy).

I think it is very important to have international business experience, because I feel that the concept of globalization is going to give enormous possibilities for economies in future.

Wafi Ahmed Abdalsamad Mohamed Amin (Egypt) - student of the programme Global Business:
