"Global Business" programme signed the double degree agreement with JKU
The Global Business programme was originally based on cooperation with JKU and University of Bergamo. The first year of the studies is equally split between three countries (Russia, Austria, Italy), universities (HSE, JKU, UniBG) and relevant business cultures. Now HSE and JKU are taking the cooperation to the new level: HSE students can choose to participate in the double degree track at JKU and the Austrian students have the same option with HSE in Nizhny Novgorod.
All the courses within the Global Business programme can be divided into 3 blocks:
1) courses that are mandatory for all of the participating students from all the 3 universities which they therefore take together and which can be simply transferred to JKU;
2) courses mandatory for HSE students to which HSE found equivalent courses at JKU and which can also be transferred to the Austrian university according to the agreement;
3) courses that are mandatory for JKU students and that have no equivalents at HSE. The HSE students participating in the double degree track will need to go back to JKU for at least 1 semester after the international year to complete these courses.
Having received all the necessary credits at JKU the students need to finalize their master thesis to be awarded the Austrian degree.
Senior Lecturer, Global Business supervisor at HSE
As soon as i heard about the double degree option i immediately realized that i need to use this opportunity. The second diploma from the European University will always be a competitive advantage in any place in the world. Now being back in LInz it feels like homecoming. We were welcomed back by the Austrian students with whom we spent a whole beautiful year together. All the formalities concerning the enrolment were handled smoothly thanks to the JKU programme staff, i collected all the necessary documents within a couple of days. At JKU we need to follow the same procedures that we are already familiar with from the international year, so we can manage well on our own now.
The opportunity to receive the second master's degree from a leading European University is a clear benefit for getting a job in the Russian market as well as becoming a competitive candidate for a European company. That is why my decision to participate was straightforward favorable. Having the experience of studying at a European university during the first year of the Global Business programme definitely helps not to "get lost" in the European education system. However, there is a big difference in our current status - there is a lot more personal responsibility as we are no longer part of a united team of GB students. We need to manage our time and workload on our own. The enrolment process at JKU was clear and simple, the most important thing is to fill out the necessary forms and keep in touch in case further documents are needed. The assistance from the programme staff on both sides is a huge plus.
