Exploring Project Management Frameworks with FM Logistic Company
On October 19, 2023 guest lecturer, e-commerce project manager in FM Logistic and HSE Master’s programme «Global Business» graduate Anna Golubeva organized a workshop «Project management: international practices» for 1-year students of Master’s programme «Business Development» («Business administration» track) and 2-year student of Master’s programme «Global Business».
This workshop provided an insightful look into FM Logistic, its global reach, key projects, a SWOT analysis, and the intricacies of project management frameworks, offering invaluable knowledge and expertise to the students.
FM Logistic, a prominent player in the logistics industry, is known for its extensive presence across Europe, Asia and Russia. The company boasts an impressive track record, handling diverse projects in logistics. Their services encompass five main categories: E-commerce, 3E (easy to start, to use, to exit), Parcel, Cross Docks, and Delivery to Marketplaces. This extensive portfolio demonstrates their adaptability to various client needs and the ability to operate efficiently on a global scale.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the workshop was the exploration of project management frameworks. The workshop discussed the advantages and disadvantages of four prominent frameworks: Waterfall, Scrum, Agile, and Kanban. Understanding these frameworks was essential, as they play a crucial role in ensuring the success of logistics projects in a dynamic and ever-evolving industry.
The final part of the workshop required students to engage in a hands-on exercise—a case study on planning a cross-docking point. This practical exercise allowed students to apply the knowledge gained throughout the workshop and develop a comprehensive plan for the successful launch of a cross-docking facility. It emphasized the significance of meticulous planning and execution in the logistics field.

The workshop has been the best experience so far. The physical engagement and the incorporation of real life scenario by bringing in a resource person from a foremost international company, FM Logistic is the height of the amazing experience. I hope to have more similar sessions for the next couple of months of my study in HSE.

Participation in the workshop was fascinating. For the short period of time we should made a plan for launching the warehouse, prioritized the list of tasks, determined the launch date and agreed within the team how we will correct mistakes (we are students, we are sure that there will be a place for mistakes).
Usually I am on the receiving side of the parcels, but here I looked at the delivery work from the inside. It was quite interesting. Thanks to HSE for this opportunity and the friendly atmosphere of the workshop.

The students were perfectly involved in the process, actively asked questions. They were able to form multicultural groups to solve the case. They especially pleased me in solving the case. They had a very clear and competent approach, they were able to apply the information that we considered in the first part of the seminar.
