HSE Nizhny Novgorod Expands International Cooperation

A cooperation agreement will be signed between the Hochschule Bochum — Bochum University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and HSE — Nizhny Novgorod.

An agreement on mutual cooperation was reached during a meeting attended by Valery Zusman, Director of the HSE Branch in Nizhny Novgorod; Jürgen Bock, Vice President of the Hochschule Bochum - Bochum University of Applied Sciences; Ekaterina Karpushenkova, a representative of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia; Pyotr Mukhin, Deputy Chairman for Innovation and Regional Programmes of the Nizhny Novgorod Scientific Centre, RAS; Natalya Gronskaya, Deputy Director of the HSE Branch in Nizhny Novgorod; and Denis Fomenkov, Faculty of Management in Nizhny Novgorod.

In summarizing the hour-long meeting with the leadership of the Nizhny Novgorod campus, Mr. Bock stated:

‘We are a regional university that operates globally. On the one hand, we keep very close ties with the regional economy of North Rhine-Westphalia; on the other hand, we are developing internationally quite strongly. Companies in our region are very much oriented to the global market for exports, and we want to give our students the opportunity to receive an international, cross-cultural experience during their studies. The format of your Master's in Global Business is therefore a good example to follow.

‘I believe that the field of education and science is of paramount importance given the current political situation. We have to use every opportunity to interact at this level, despite our political differences. Numerous examples from the past show that such cooperation holds great value and promotes mutual understanding to an incredibly high degree’.

Preliminary cooperation agreements were reached for academic exchange programmes, joint work on both Master's and undergraduate-level programmes, joint summer schools, and international research.
