HSE Nizhny Novgorod Student at EBES International Conference

The 18th Conference of the Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) took place at the American University of Sharjah on the shores of the Gulf in the United Arab Emirates. Researchers, including Anna Vodopianova, first-year master’s student of economics at HSE in Nizhny Novgorod, came to the conference from 43 different countries.

The Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) was founded early in 2008. The association brings together researchers from all over the world to foster academic cooperation between researchers and professionals and advance research and development in economics, finance, and business. EBES conferences are held three times a year, and the papers presented there are published in EBES journals.

Anna has chosen Mathematical Methods of Economic Analysis as her study track. At the conference, she presented a paper on ‘Econometric Analysis of the Influence of Russian Reforms on Informal Employment’ which she co-authored with her academic supervisor, Liudmila Leonova, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at HSE in Nizhny Novgorod. The audience was interested in Anna’s talk. She says it was the econometric method she used to analyze the reforms which drew their attention. They also asked a lot of questions about the Russian taxation system.

Anna’s trip to the conference was made possible by a travel grant from HSE.

'HSE offers all the conditions you need for research. I see myself in the future as a theoretical economist, and it’s very important for me to be able to present my research papers at international conferences. That’s why these grants are a great support for young researchers', says Anna Vodopianova.
