Results of the 3rd International Conference ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications’

The 3rd International Conference ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications’ dedicated to the application of modern econometric tools in applied research and its theoretical aspects, was held in HSE Nizhny Novgorod on September 22-24, 2016.

Andrey Maksimov, Professor, Head of the Department of Economic Theory and Econometrics, summed up the event:

‘We can say that we organised a platform where young and renowned researchers had a unique opportunity to meet and communicate with leading econometrists from Russia and the world. This not only contributes to the further development of HSE econometric school, but also helps us to track scientific trends, to grow, and to set challenging goals. When you are taking the first step in any direction, you can’t see the whole road. When we organized the first conference, we could not imagine what a complex, diverse and interesting world would open up for us. Our conference brings together researchers in various fields: mathematics, economics and finance, physics, ecology, sociology and others. Econometric tools of data analysis play the role of a unifying factor that unites all areas of research activities related to data processing. Let's see what results we have achieved at the recent conference…

In terms of formal results, about 40 reports were presented at the event. I should note that the majority of the projects were presented by young researchers. And this confirms the high quality education of students and doctoral students of HSE and other universities. In our case, the conference reflects modern trends in education and science. We hope that the 3rd international conference ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications – META2016’ is an important link between the scientific potential of universities and the requests of modern society’.

Walter Distaso (Imperial College Business School, UK)

The conference was very interesting and varied; a lot of topics were discussed. Students were able to learn a lot of useful information and determine themes for their research as a result of the wide variety of topics presented.

Dean Fantazzini (Moscow State University)

The conference was very well organized, and a lot of topics were covered. In particular, I would like to highlight the use of different approaches. This is one of the main advantages of this conference. It is useful for students, especially for those who want to build their career, to learn how to apply different approaches.
