Conference with a holiday atmosphere

Conference with a holiday atmosphere

During these New Year holidays the first conference on «Topological methods in dynamics and related topics» was held on the territory of the Higher School of Economics. It was organized by the Department of Fundamental Mathematics of the Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

The conference with an eventful programme took place in Nizhny Novgorod in the HSE campus from 3rd to 6th of January and was dedicated to four fields: "Topological methods in dynamics", "Bifurcations and chaos", "geometry and topology of foliations", "Algebra and analysis». The participants also listened to series of biographical overviews about the founders of the school on nonlinear oscillations, namely, Andronov A., Leontovych E., Mayer A.

Four-year students from the Bachelor’s programme “Mathematics” had an opportunity to present the results of their first research at the poster session. After all lectures, a presentation about the new Master’s programme “Mathematics” was given to participants of the conference. The programme itself is the second stage of the fundamental mathematics education and provides its graduates with two diplomas: one of the HSE and another of the University of Passau (Germany). The first admission campaign of this programme is to start in 2019.

In addition to plenary and breakout sessions and poster sessions of participants of the conference, they were taken on an excursion around Nizhny Novgorod city, visited several concerts of jazz and classic music, attended Rukavishnikov family House Museum and had a dinner accompanied by internationally recognized researchers. Spokespeople at the conference included mathematicians from universities of France, Germany, Spain, Poland, the USA, Japan, China, Korea, Iran, Finland, Syria and others. They all noted a very high level of organization of the event.

- Thank you very much for the excellent organization of the scientific conference «Topological methods in dynamics and related topics» and cultural program, especially its musical part. It is hoped that the tradition will be continued and we will open many more interesting and unknown about the beautiful city of Nizhny Novgorod. To attract young scientists, one could try to organize a lecture course on the most interesting topics of mathematics, topology, dynamical systems, etc.
Prof. Pavel Ryabov, Moscow

- The conference was organized very well, it was really informative, very engaging and helpful. I appreciate all your efforts and the welcoming atmosphere, I really enjoyed the conference and the facility.
Prof. Kaveh Eftekharinasab, Kiev

- Thanks to the organizers of the conference. The conference was held at the highest level. I enjoyed the stay in Nizhny Novgorod, scientific communication and cultural program. Keep it up Nizhny!
Prof. Dmitry Bolotov, Kharkov
