HSE Doctoral Student Wins IBM PhD Fellowship Award

IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards is an annual international competition aimed at supporting talented Ph.D students from various countries who are carrying out research in areas of knowledge essential for IBM. In 2016, 60 Ph.D students were selected, including Alexander Ponomarenko. It’s worth noting that he was one of only two Russians to receive the award this year.

Alexander Ponomarenko is senior lecturer at HSE in Nizhny Novgorod and researcher at the Laboratory of Algorithms and Technologies for Networks Analysis (LATNA). He is also second-year doctoral student and the topic of his thesis is ‘Studying and developing search algorithms in distributed scalable data warehouses’, supervised by Vladimir Krylov, professor at the Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science. In 2015, Alexander Ponomarkenko won the Ilya Segalovich Internship for doctoral students at Yandex.

Congratulations to Alexander and his academic supervisor!
