The Department of Fundamental Mathematics was created at HSE Nizhny Novgorod in 2014. In 2015, the Department launched a Bachelor’s programme in Mathematics. Starting 2019, there will also be a double degree Master’s programme in Mathematics taught entirely in English in cooperation with the University of Passau.
The department also conducts classes for school children at the Minor Mathematical Academy Plus+.
Department staff members are involved in research as part of the Laboratory of Topological Methods in Dynamics.

This year for the first time ever the Department of Fundamental Mathematics and the Laboratory of Topological Methods in Dynamics organise International Competition of Diploma Papers. We invite students of technical specialties whose research is devoted to the fundamental and applied issues of mathematics to participate.
Participants are granted by the opportunity not only to present their papers to leading mathematicians and to receive reviews, but also to get familiar with others participants’ scientific achievements. The main requirement to the works is submitting of new mathematical findings such as theorems, algorithms, hypotheses and proofs.
The participation in the Competition is free and online. Everyone can send their works by emails to Organising Committee (hsennconfmath@gmail.com) until May, 31. More information is provided on the main page of the Competition.
