Welcome to Language of Economics: the Way to Success

Was the title of a university student conference at HSE’s campus in Nizhny Novgorod, organized by the Department of Foreign Languages.

The speakers were first- and second-year undergraduate students, who presented their projects in economics, management, law, mathematics and information science. The presentations were made in English.

Improving public speaking skills is one of the key tasks the conference organisers set the participants. The conference format includes a competition for the best presentations, and this year’s winners among the first-year students are:

1^st place – Sofia Schwarzberg, Faculty of Law, for her presentation on ‘Legal Aspects of an Acquisition’

2^nd place – Maria Martynenko, Faculty of Economics, presentation on ‘Let Business Solve Social Problems’

3^rd place – Irina Emelyanova, Faculty of Economics, presentation on ‘How to Make Customers Fall in Love with Your Business’

The winners among the second-year students are:

1^st place – Mariam Abyshova, Faculty of Law, presentation on ‘Characteristics of Internal Audit’

2^nd place – Zhanna Shabanova, Faculty of Law, presentation on ‘The Middle Class in the US and in the RF’

3^rd place – Alina Kabatova, Faculty of Management, presentation on ‘Key principles that make a web-site look good’

The conference hosts, first-year students of the Faculty of Management, Alexander Tarasov and Maria Borisova, also had the opportunity to improve their public speaking and organizational skills.

We wish the winners success at the National Conference in Moscow, where they will represent the HSE’s campus in Nizhny Novgorod!
