Summer University at HSE Nizhny Novgorod
HSE Summer University programme is a unique opportunity for students from different countries to increase their knowledge of various subjects. The programme has been held at HSE Moscow three times and is already starting to become a summer tradition. This year, one week of the Summer University programme was held at HSE Nizhny Novgorod for the first time.
During their stay at Nizhny Novgorod, the students of the Summer University programme took courses in intercultural communications and management. In addition to their studies, the students also had the opportunity to visit places of interest in the city and see some regional attractions. The students visited the Kremlin, Pechersky monastery, the History Museum of Gorky automobile plant, the Khokhloma painting factory, took a boat trip on the Volga river and much more.

It was a wonderful summer school. I have visited Moscow, but if you compare it to Nizhny Novgorod, it is a completely different experience. There were not so many students at the lectures; therefore we had an excellent opportunity to ask the lecturers lots of questions. It was great week that combined both studying and sightseeing. I would advise everyone come to Nizhny Novgorod for a week of the Summer University programme.

It can be hard to draw conclusions after such a short time in the city, but my first impression is that Nizhny Novgorod is a city with a great history. I have never seen so many beautiful churches before, it was overwhelming. In general, the programme was interesting, especially the course in intercultural communications. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to visit all the museums and interesting places in Nizhny Novgorod, but when I next have the desire to explore the origins of Russian culture, I will start my journey from here.
