Summer School for International Students
Students from Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria) as well as students from Brazil and the Republic of Korea prepared presentations and spoke about their studies in Nizhny Novgorod.
During the summer school the students attended lectures on intercultural communications, literature, and the history of Russia and improved their Russian language skills.
On the last day of the school the students prepared short presentations about Nizhny Novgorod and shared their impressions about their visit to Russia.
Yeji Kang: ‘My idea of Russia has changed after the summer school. Like many foreigners, I was sure that Russia would be a cold country, and the residents gloomy and aggressive. But Russia turned out to be beautiful and warm and everyone I met has been friendly and funny. My presentation is titled ‘I love Nizhny Novgorod.’
Simona, a student from Sao Paulo, Brazil, said that the time she spent in Russia was amazing and inspiring. During her presentation, she thanked everyone who took part in the organizing and running of the school as well as her friends and the family she stayed with in Russia.
‘Everyone treated me nicely; I made a lot of new friends, visited lots of museums, churches and other very beautiful places. I learned a lot about living in Russia, its wonderful people and their rich culture. And of course, I learned a bit of Russian,,which still seems very hard to me, but I will try to do my best!’
The other students shared Simona’s impressions and added that this experience had been priceless for them and they hope that HSE will keep on organizing similar summer schools in future.
