Life with Passion from Roberto Klabin

HSE Nizhny Novgorod traditionally starts the first day of the new academic year with an interesting lecture for first-year students.  This time, the lecture format was unusual. Roberto Klabin, Harvard Business School graduate, one of the richest men in Brazil, managing owner of Caiman Ecological Refuge, delivered a presentation entitled ‘Pantanal. A Love Story’.

Klabin spoke about the Pantanal park – his life’s work. The presentation included not only the numbers involved, but also the sounds of nature and samba rhythms, bringing videos of exotic flora and fauna to life for the students. The lecturer talked about the park with real passion, which was appreciated by his many listeners (HSE hall could barely host all the students).

Roberto Klabin shared the guiding principle of his life with the students: ld always aim high, make new plans and projects, and study new areas of knowledge.

Mr. Klabin came to HSE to study Russian, which he already speaks with some proficiency alongside his native Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Italian. He chose HSE Nizhny Novgorod over the many other institutions that offer these courses in order to improve his language skills.
