Numerical Methods and Optimization lectures by professor Pardalos
Professor Pardalos will give a series of lectures for students on Numerical Methods and Optimization.
This mini course will cover fundamental results regarding numerical methods on systems of linear equations, nonlinear equations, interpolation and approximation, the eigenvalue problem, and introduction to optimization. Emphasis will be given to algorithm complexity, stability of algorithms, and recent developments in the field. The main source of these lectures will be the book:
Lectures will be organized in Zoom with the following schedule:
Lecture 1, 2 -Nov 8 (16:00 Moscow time): Linear Systems of Equations (Exact and iterative algorithms, Stability, Least-squares problems, Large sparse systems)
Lecture 3 - Nov 10 (16:00 Moscow time): Nonlinear equations and nonlinear systems of equations
Lecture 4 - Nov 12 (16:00 Moscow time): Approximation and Interpolation
Lecture 5 - Nov 17 (16:00 Moscow time): The eigenvalue problem
Lecture 6, 7 - Nov 19 (16:00 Moscow time): Introduction to optimization
Lectures are open. To participate a registration is needed.
