IS Club Members at the Magic World of «Ariel»

On November 25 (Friday) International Students’ Club members of HSE – Nizhny Novgorod visited factory «Ariel».  «Ariel» produces New Year tree ornaments and organizes excursions for general public on a regular basis.

The students visited an exhibition devoted to the history of New Year decorations: from Soviet period to nowadays; then got a chance to get acquainted with the production process: from glassblowing to painting of decorations. 

The most memorable part of the excursion was a master-class at which each visitor had a chance to paint a glass ball and make an ornament according to his/her taste.  The factory’s specialists helped everyone in that creative and entertaining job.

 The students were really impressed and enjoyed the excursion a lot.

Nizhny Novgorod plant of glass Christmas tree decorations «Ariel» was founded in Began in 1992.  It started as small art studios where local artists, craftsmen hand-painted glass Christmas balls. In 1996 all workshops turned into a factory. «Ariel» preserves tradition of making unique hand-made Christmas decorations. The factory produces products of different shapes: balls, bells, candlesticks, medallions, icicles, crowns etc. Once the glass has cooled down, it falls into the hands of the artist. Hands of the master, with the help of brushes and paints, are unique and inimitable products. Master-classes and tours for schoolchildren, students, and adults are organized by the factory’s staff. «Ariel»’s craft is known in many countries of the world. «Russian Winter», «First Snow», «Winter Village», «Nizhny Novgorod Region», «12 pearls of Nizhny Novgorod region»,  - these are popular themes or New Year glass balls at «Ariel» factory.
