Marketing costs are increasing steadily, without reference to the economic situation. However, the effectiveness of these expenses has been and  still remains a big question. There is an extensive practice of using statistical and other models, aimed to solve this problem, but the increasing complexity of the socio-economic landscape makes many of the models obsolete before their practical test. In the report, I will try to point out a few types of problems and models, which   relevance is particularly great, but which are  clearly in need of sharp  improvement.

1.   Establishing the role of various factors in the regular advertising (the models of  regression type);

2.   The problems of acquiring new customers  and retaining existing customers

( the models  of  image recognition type);

3.   Advertising planning (analysis of survey data, optimization)

4.    Reproduction of existing mechanisms of marketing messages perception (simulation models, and models with many agents);

5.    Tracking of   current trends (processing unstructured and   textual information).

 Possible holistic view of these models and   some examples of new practices

  will be briefly discussed  in the lecture.
