Professor Panos M. Pardalos was awarded a prize of the International Conference "Numerical Computations: Theory and Algorithms" for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of Optimization.

The NUMTA2013 Conference was held on June 17-23, 2013 and organized jointly by the University of Calabria, Department of Computer Engineering, Modelling, Electronics and Systems Science, Italy, and by the N.I. Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod, Russia, in cooperation with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), USA. The Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee was a laureate of Russian and International prizes in mathematics and computer science, Professor Yaroslav Sergeyev.

The goal of the NUMTA2013 Conference was to create a multidisciplinary round table for an open discussion on numerical modeling nature by using traditional and emerging computational paradigms. The Conference discussed all aspects of numerical computations and modeling from foundations and philosophy to advanced numerical techniques.

Together with regular presentations at the Conference there was the Summer School offering tutorials and discussion sections covering the topics of the Conference. Participants at the Summer School could submit either regular papers or participate at the poster session that was also organized. Among the participants of the Summer School were such leading scientists as Renato De Leone (Camerino, Italy), David Yang Gao (Ballarat, Australia), Manlio Gaudioso (Rende, Italy), Anatoly Zhigljavsky (Cardiff, UK), Panos M. Pardalos (Gainesville, USA), Igor Pospelov (Moscow, Russia), etc.

Three professors - Manlio Gaudioso, Panos M. Pardalos,  Roman Strongin- were awarded prizes for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of Optimization.
