Practical Training
Practical training of students - is a form of organizing educational activities during the mastery of an educational program, involving students in performing specific types of work related to their future professional activities. It is aimed at forming, consolidating, and developing practical skills and competencies in the field of the respective educational program. The achievement of the goals and objectives of practical training is carried out through the implementation of practical training elements (PTE). The provision of practical training of HSE University students is stipulated in the "Internship" module of the educational program's curriculum.
The procedure for organizing and conducting PTEs for HSE University students is regulated by the Regulations on Practical Training of Students under Core Bachelor’s, Specialist and Master’s Programmes at HSE University.

WORK EXPERIENCE INTERNSHIP
(!) Dear Master's students! After completing your internship, to receive a pass grade, you must complete the internship documents, obtain the signatures of your internship supervisors from the organization and from HSE University, and submit the documents to the program manager.

RESEARCH INTERNSHIP
The type of research internship includes the writing of a research-based final qualification work (thesis). During the internship, students submit the title page, table of contents, abstract, literature review and references to their academic supervisors for review.

PROJECT PROPOSAL (TERM PAPER)
A project proposal (term paper) is an independent type of academic activity—a form of student research and/or project work—and an integral part of the educational process. It is designed to deepen students' knowledge in the subjects studied, acquired during theoretical and practical classes, to instill in students the skills of independent study of materials on the topic of the paper and research activity, to teach the selection, study, and summarization of materials that serve as sources of information in both printed and electronic formats, and to develop competencies in analytical, research, and project activities.
A project proposal (term paper) is completed individually and is carried out in accordance with the Procedure for Writing Term Papers and Theses by Students of Bachelor’s, Specialist, and Master’s Programmes at HSE Universit
Submission of an application for approval of the course paper topic. Since 2025/2026 academic year approval of project proposal (term paper) topics is carried out exclusively through the SmartPro system.
Topic Change. The topic can be changed until one month before the defense. It will not be possible to change it after that. The application must be submitted to the program manager.

FINAL QUALIFICATION PAPER (FQP)
The Final Qualifying Paper (FQP) is an independent theoretical and applied study of current problems in the field of applied linguistics. It contains a scientific analysis of linguistic sources and constitutes a scholarly work that presents a novel solution to a problem of theoretical and practical significance for the relevant field of knowledge. Alternatively, it may present scientifically substantiated developments by the author that provide solutions to important applied tasks. The FQP must ensure not only the reinforcement of academic culture but also the necessary set of methodological skills in the chosen field of professional activity.
The defense of final qualifying works is a mandatory state certification test. Originality Check. To check for originality, the anti-plagiarism system is used within a special HSE EIOS.
Defense. Deadlines are determined by the curriculum and the FSC schedule in accordance with the Regulation on the Final State Attestation of HSE University graduates
