Course Syllabus

Abstract

The goal of the course "World Economy and International Business in Transformation" to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of world economy and international business. The course highlights and provides understanding of the key trends of the world economy, main issues of its scales and dynamics, international production and trade, as well as modern technological development and its impact on international markets and competition. The course explores the most important business players, forms and formats of corporate development, ways of growth and progress based on theoretical concepts and approaches, as well as major practical instruments of international management, marketing and leadership competencies. Special focus is done on management of international companies in view of technological changes, innovation activities, rise and rapid spread of Machine Learning Systems, normally called Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the transition to digital economy. It focuses on new requirements for corporate social responsibility, ESG’ considerations, cross-cultural concerns for sustainable business development. It presents a broad view of dynamic and deep changes in global business environment, digitalization of economy and society, transformation of globalization. The course combines lectures and seminars, research, role-playing business games, round table discussions with business experts, as well as self-study of recommended educational materials – books, articles, business cases, video-lectures of management practitioners and theoreticians.
