Course Syllabus

Abstract

In the discipline, students get acquainted with the methodologies of trend analysis, study the existing development trends in the technological progress, in the field of transformation of society and consumer behavior, world economic development cycles

Learning Objectives

• To identify, describe and analyze trends inflicting social and economic development

Expected Learning Outcomes

• The student may use the mathematic methods for creating future forcast
• The student can determine if a given business model is feasible using a given technology stack
• The student can determine which stack this technology belongs to.
• The student is able evaluate this trend based on the analysis of publications and patents
• The student can distinguish between a real trend and an artificially created media hype
• The student may use different approaches to mathematical modeling of trends

• Understanding trends through the image of the future
• Stack technology.
• Assessment of technological trends.
• Trend management
• Mathematical modeling of trends

Assessment Elements

• Homework 1
  The student should write a homework on the following topic: find pairs of controversal trends in the given list of trends/ Is evaluated from 0 to 10 points.
• Homework (presentation)
  Students should prepare at home and defend at class a presentation with the example of business-model which can be viable in a single stack of technologies. Evaluated from 0 to10 points
• Homework 2
  Student should take the R&D result given. Conduct patents and publications analysis. Present the list of enterprizes involved and their possible market shares. Evaluated from 0 to 10 points.
• Control work
  Student should write an essay describing any modern trend leading to formation of new business-model's types. Evaluated from 0 to 10 points.

• 2022/2023 1st module
  0.25 * Control work + 0.25 * Homework 1 + 0.25 * Homework 2 + 0.25 * Homework (presentation)
