Course Syllabus

Abstract

The present course is designed to give students comprehensive knowledge of psycholinguistics within the framework of contemporary linguistic theoretical and experimental research. The theoretical part is delivered in the form of lectures and acquaints students with the major approaches to psycholinguistics.

Learning Objectives

• The learning objectives of the course are as follows: • to give the students knowledge of major theories in psycholinguistics; to acquaint the students with important linguistic terms in English; to give the students practice in reading and interpreting scientific linguistic texts in English. • to help students master competencies, which will allow them to be successful in their professional interaction.

Expected Learning Outcomes

• operates the major psycholinguistic theories
• identifies the place of psycholinguistics within a broader scope of linguistic studies
• manages effective interaction within the intercultural context
• uses and interprets linguistic terms and specific scientific language while discussing psycholinguistic research items, maps out and interprets linguistic experiments

• Brief history of psycholinguistics and the key concepts
• Aspects of treating the interrelation of language and mind in psycholinguistics
