A working meeting of the 2nd and 4th year students with Alaa Assaf, Master of Law at the Beirut Arab University / Faculty of Law and Political Science, was held on December 22 at the Faculty of Law, HSE, Nizhny Novgorod. The selected topic was sensitive not only legally, but also politically: "Foreign Armed Intervention in Internal Conflicts: The Case of the Russian Intervention in Syria”. It should be noted that the event was not specifically associated with the end of the Russian military campaign in the Middle East, but technically coincided with it, so the lecturer made a number of conclusions.

At Higher School of Economics — Nizhny Novgorod, the international office organizes interesting and engaging events. One of them is the event called “Kapustnik”, which takes place every week at the university. During this event, international students are invited to present a few facts about their own countries and prepare a traditional or cultural dish for other students to try. Such an event really gives one a unique, insider’s perspective on different cultures, straight from people who were raised in those cultures.

On October 17 the delegation from Ghent University visited HSE - Nizhny Novgorod. At the meeting with Director Valery Zusman, Deputy Director Natalya Gronskaya, and representatives of all faculties of HSE – NN Belgian academics told the audience about their educational institution: its programmes, research projects, policy on internalization, and publication activity. Professor Guido Van Huylenbroeck, Vice-President on Internationalization of Ghent University paid special attention to the university’s high world ranking.

On September 18 – 22 Director of HSE-Nizhny Novgorod Valery Zusman visited the Korean Republic on the invitation of National Institute for International Education. The delegation, which he joined, included 14 participants from eleven countries: Germany, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia. University administrators, government officials from Ministries of Education, outstanding professor were among the guests.  

For the fourth time, the HSE campus in Nizhny Novgorod welcomes international students from Germany, Finland, Poland, Bulgaria, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

From June 22 – 24, 2017, the 4th international conference in econometrics ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications’ took place at HSE in Nizhny Novgorod. Andrey Maximov, Professor, Head of theDepartment of Economic Theory and Econometrics and chair of the conference organizing committee, shared a brief overview of what the event achieved.

During the last company this year visit Global Business students paid a visit to the DHL branch in Bergamo, Italy. As usual we asked one of our students to share their thoughts afterwards.

The joint lecture of Dr. Bernard Vogl, Hochschule Niederrhein, University of Applied (Germany) and senior lecturer Irina Kvostova (HSE, Nizhny Novgorod) was held at Higher School of Economics – Nizhny Novgorod on June 1, 2017 within scholarly seminar 'Theoretical and empirical research in economics and finance'.
