The final of the Russian-language moot court competition at the International Criminal Court (ICC) took place in The Hague. According to the results of the Russia-wide competition, which was held in April in Moscow, teams from Moscow State University and HSE’s campuses in Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow were selected to participate in the finals in the Netherlands.
HSE researchers conducted intraoperative language mapping during brain tumor removal surgery in Nizhny Novgorod. HSE students of Fundamental and Applied Linguistics, together with interns from Brazil, had the opportunity to attend the surgery.

In May, Valery Zusman, Director of the Higher School of Economics – Nizhny Novgorod, delivered a lecture “Europe - Asia - Eurasia?” at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. The lecture discussed the ideas of Nicolai Trubetzkoy and Dmitry Likhachev, the scholars’ understanding of Eurasia and Scandoslavia being under scrutiny.

Aditi Koomar and Shreyak Tare are exchange students from Indian Institute of Management Raipur, a partner university of HSE-Nizhny Novgorod. They are pursuing a Master's degree in Management with a major in Marketing and Human Resource. They have come from Kerala, a southern Indian state, to Nizhny Novgorod for three months to study Brand Management and Marketing of Innovations at the Faculty of Management. A working meeting of the 2nd and 4th year students with Alaa Assaf, Master of Law at the Beirut Arab University / Faculty of Law and Political Science, was held on December 22 at the Faculty of Law, HSE, Nizhny Novgorod. The selected topic was sensitive not only legally, but also politically: "Foreign Armed Intervention in Internal Conflicts: The Case of the Russian Intervention in Syria”. It should be noted that the event was not specifically associated with the end of the Russian military campaign in the Middle East, but technically coincided with it, so the lecturer made a number of conclusions.
At Higher School of Economics — Nizhny Novgorod, the international office organizes interesting and engaging events. One of them is the event called “Kapustnik”, which takes place every week at the university. During this event, international students are invited to present a few facts about their own countries and prepare a traditional or cultural dish for other students to try. Such an event really gives one a unique, insider’s perspective on different cultures, straight from people who were raised in those cultures.
